Mercedes is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier and Nipissing with degrees in Bachelor of Sciences in Biology and Nursing, respectively. She is a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and a registered member with RNAO and the Canadian Nurses Association. Mercedes became certified as a Nurse Injector in July 2021 and has since shadowed NP Olenka and RPN Krista to give results that ClaraDerma+ clients know and love.
Mercedes grew up in the aesthetics industry as her mother was a medical aesthetician in Toronto, Etobicoke owning her own clinic for 30 years. She always had a fine eye for beauty and a gravitational pull to the aesthetics world. She currently works part-time at St. Joe’s on the Head & Neck, Plastics unit and has advanced knowledge in facial anatomy and critical care. As an RN, she found that medical aesthetics combines her two worlds of science and art into one.
As a young black woman, growing up was challenging due to the pressures of societal beauty norms. Her skin colour was too often a topic of conversation making her feel uncomfortable to be in her own skin. Her anxiety surrounding being exposed to the sun however did work to her favour (the girls at Claraderma+ are all about that sun protection!). She now embraces her skin, wants to be a role model for people of colour in the aesthetics industry and help clients of all races embrace their unique beauty. As our nurse injector, her goal is to give natural results leaving you feeling powerful and confident. She wants everyone to feel good in their own skin regardless of ethnicity.
