BOTOX is always administered through an injection by our Medical Aesthetic Nurse, no matter which concern it is treating. It will be injected directly into a muscle, and depending on which concern the treatments are targeting it may involve more than one injection.
For hyperhidrosis, the injections will be all over the site of excessive sweating. This can be effective for the underarms, palms, or soles of the feet. Where BOTOX is injected, the nerve signal is blocked from reaching the sweat glands, therefore, eliminating the production of sweat. To ensure the area is treated effectively an iodine corn starch test will be done. Iodine will be placed on the area of concern and then covered with cornstarch. Sweat will turn the areas purple and this serves as an injection guide to ensure all the sweat glands will be targeted.
