Before you come for a chemical peel appointment, you will meet with one of our skin care specialists who will perform a short consultation to address your skin care needs. They will then determine which type of peel you need.
Your blue light therapy portion of your appointment will be done in a dark room, away from bright lights or sunlight. Your treatment will start with a series of blue lights being applied in varying intensities to the treatment area.
The duration of blue light treatments is dependent on your skin’s needs and the area of treatment. If you have few issues with only one small area being targeted, treatment can be as short as 15 minutes. If you have severe skin issues, the treatments can last up to 30 minutes.
After the peel, it is normal for skin to appear mildly red. Your Medical Aesthetician will provide you with important personalized instructions and post-care products to protect your skin.
Sunscreen is always important but extremely necessary after a deep peel to keep the new skin protected. You can make a follow-up appointment to check on your skin’s recovery progress if needed at any time.
Any issues after the Blue Light Therapy treatments are typically very minor. You may experience some slight redness of the skin. With such minor issues, this treatment option has no downtime. You can immediately resume your daily activities after the blue light treatment is over.
