Therapeutic BOTOX Treatments

Therapeutic BOTOX has been a long-standing treatment for excessive sweating, headaches, and jaw clenching. Our skilled nurse injectors perform all cosmetic and therapeutic BOTOX treatments at our St. Catharines, Niagara clinic.

What Is BOTOX For Wellness?

BOTOX has been proven to be effective for treating a number of health concerns. Some of the health concerns include hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of the underarms, palms and feet), muscle spasms and stiff muscles. If you require surgery where scarring is a concern, BOTOX can also assist to reduce the muscular pull under the sutured area helping to aid in healing.

Many people only associate BOTOX with its cosmetic uses, and much of that association carries a stigma. This leads people to suffer from preventable health concerns that BOTOX can easily treat. Many private insurance companies cover the cost of Therapeutic BOTOX for migraines and hyperhidrosis. Our clinic will work with your insurance company to navigate coverage.

What To Expect

BOTOX is always administered through an injection by our Medical Aesthetic Nurse, no matter which concern it is treating. It will be injected directly into a muscle, and depending on which concern the treatments are targeting it may involve more than one injection.

For hyperhidrosis, the injections will be all over the site of excessive sweating. This can be effective for the underarms, palms, or soles of the feet. Where BOTOX is injected, the nerve signal is blocked from reaching the sweat glands, therefore, eliminating the production of sweat. To ensure the area is treated effectively an iodine corn starch test will be done. Iodine will be placed on the area of concern and then covered with cornstarch. Sweat will turn the areas purple and this serves as an injection guide to ensure all the sweat glands will be targeted.

Many people report feeling only partial relief after the initial injections are complete. Within 5-7 days after the injection, the full results will be felt. Typically the effects of the treatment last up to 6 months for those treated for hyperhidrosis.
